What's Up in Term 2
We will soon start Term 2 and a new journey of learning. We will have a number of our current class 'graduating' to Room 8 in Week 2 to join our newest junior school teacher, Whaea Jo Peters. We will continue to work closely together in many learning areas, so even though some children will have a new teacher, they will still come back to Room 7 to take part in learning activities.
We will be learning about Transport as our Programme of Guided Inquiry during term 2.
In PE we will learn about Invasion Games and take part in Jump Jam.
We will continue to build a sound foundation for literacy including alphabet, high frequency words as well as building on our numeracy!

We hope to take small groups to visit the local pre-schools and kindy's as well as visiting the Aranui Public Library!
It's going to be a fun term.

Final week of term 1!
We have had a fantastic term one!
Our class has grown from 6 students on day one, to 17 awesome students. Some of our original class will be 'graduating' soon to Room 8 with our new junior school teacher, Whaea Jo Peters. Whaea Jo will be visiting us all this week to get to know the students and see how we learn at Aranui Primary.
This week we are also going to visit Orana Park. This will finish and consolidate our learning about Animal Habitats and Survival. We are looking forward to seeing the tigers, giraffes, meerkats and other animals.
The junior school held a Mufti Day and Ice Cream Stall to help fundraise for our trip. A huge thanks to Ms Togiaso who was the chief ice-cream scooper! We will post pictures from our trip on our blog!

Interaction between APS and local Early Learning Centres
Today Mrs Derrick visited some local pre-schools and kindy's around Aranui to take them some copies of our Aranui Primary Junior Learning News.
Lots of the teachers want to spend some time at our school as they can see the awesome work all of our children do at Aranui.
We are hoping to host some small groups from the local kindy's and pre-schools in Term 2 and go to visit them as well!
If you would like a copy of our learning news please email Mrs Derrick at e.derrick@aranui.school.nz and she will send you out this terms copy!

Inquiry - Playdough Birds nests
This afternoon, at the end of a busy day of learning, we made playdough birds nests.
We have been learning about where animals live (their habitat) and what things they need to survive (shelter, water, food and warmth).
We are going to visit Orana Park in 2 weeks to consolidate all of our learning this term.
Here are some of our creations.

KidsCan Raincoats
Yesterday we received some super new winter raincoats from KidsCan.
They are lined with warm fleece and have the Warriors logo on them!
We think they are flash and are going to keep us warm and toasty and dry this winter.
