We had a wonderful first day back at school. We welcome our two new students Lueqis and Masi who had a great first day at school.
We read 'David Goes to School' by David Shannon and made a list of things we should do and should not do at school. Then we made pictures of David with guided prompts from Mrs Derrick. We practiced on the white boards first then did another copy in coloured pencils. Check them out here!
Here is the final result:

Christmas Fun Days
We are almost at the end of the year - just 1 1/2 days of school to go now.
This week we have been busy with Christmas crafts and cooking. Here are some pictures of our Christmas Ice Cream Cone Trees, Christmas Gingerbread and Christmas Trees made with strips of coloured paper.
We also had a shared party lunch with our friends from Room 8 at lunchtime! We had so much yummy food - and the great thing is, there are still leftovers to enjoy tomorrow!

van Gogh inspired flowers
Look at these amazing pastel drawings based on artist van Gogh's famous sunflowers series.
The children took lots of time and effort to create these great pictures.
I think some of our 5 year olds could be the next van Gogh!

Term 3 Art Project
We have been busy working all term on our contribution to the school art project - we started with draft pictures of 'Anything' pictures, then 'Present' pictures and finally 'Future' pictures. We then painted our 'Present' picture of us at school onto the wood panels that we spent an afternoon sanding, then oiling. We helped Whaea Alice with stripping the harakeke flax a few weeks ago, and she will be carefully hanging all of the panels with Steve in the next week so the Art can be unveiled on Thursday at a special dedication in the hall.

Rapunzel Stories
We have been studying Fairytales in Writing.
We imagined that we were Rapunzel who was trapped in a tower and thought about what we would do. Then we made ourselves Rapunzel or a Prince as our Friday artwork to display on our wall. Don't they look amazing?
