Christmas Fun Days

We are almost at the end of the year - just 1 1/2 days of school to go now.
This week we have been busy with Christmas crafts and cooking. Here are some pictures of our Christmas Ice Cream Cone Trees, Christmas Gingerbread and Christmas Trees made with strips of coloured paper.

We also had a shared party lunch with our friends from Room 8 at lunchtime! We had so much yummy food - and the great thing is, there are still leftovers to enjoy tomorrow!

Rapunzel Stories

We have been studying Fairytales in Writing.
We imagined that we were Rapunzel who was trapped in a tower and thought about what we would do. Then we made ourselves Rapunzel or a Prince as our Friday artwork to display on our wall. Don't they look amazing?

Pikelets!

This morning we made pikelets.
We mixed egg, sugar, flour, baking powder, salt and milk together then Mrs Derrick cooked our little pikelets in the electric frypan.
Julie put margarine and strawberry jam on them and we enjoyed eating them in the winter sun outside our classroom. They tasted delicious!

Making Riceballs

The junior school had a shared lunch for our Programme Of Guided Inquiry Provaction on Friday.
Each class made decorations that are represented cultures from our school and we ate food from different cultures.

Room 7 made Rice Balls from Japan. Here are some pictures and sentences that Room 7 students made about each picture.

End of Term Volcano Fun

On our last day of term 2, Mrs Derrick brought along the ingredients to make a volcano at school. The children were very excited, especially David.
Mrs Derrick used up the last of our play dough to shape the volcano and the children decorated it with sticks, leaves, flowers and rocks they found in the playground.
Click on the pictures to make them larger
Caleb put some baking soda into the middle of the volcano and David added some vinegar mixed with red food colouring. We watched as the 'lava' erupted up and out of our play dough volcano.
Afterwards we drew pictures and wrote stories about what happened. If you come to Room 7, you can read them on our wall.
