Big Day In!

Bad weather meant that we had our Big Day Out to Thomson Park changed to a Big Day In at school.
We had a great time with a gigantic obstacle course from Bibbidi Bobbidi Bounce, fun trying out all of the different Pedalmania crazy bikes, scooter/skateboarding on the courts, movies in Room 4, moonhoppers, sports gear and a yummy Cheeseburger and sausage sizzle at lunchtime using the ASB Community BBQ. A big thanks to the Red Cross Grant that enabled our whole school to have a fun day at the end of a long year.

Our trip to Broad Park

On Friday we were meant to be going to a performance, but some of the cast members were sick so the teachers decided to still take us out for lunch and a play at an awesome playground at Broad Park which is near Waimairi Surf Club.
We really enjoyed getting out and about with the rest of the junior and middle school. Everyone had so much fun.
Here are some pictures of Aranui Primary students at Broad Park. Thank you to the teachers and staff who let us come along - and to Fulton Hogan and the Salvation Army, who helped us with buses for this trip and for the A&P show.

van Gogh inspired flowers

Look at these amazing pastel drawings based on artist van Gogh's famous sunflowers series.
The children took lots of time and effort to create these great pictures.
I think some of our 5 year olds could be the next van Gogh!

Term 3 Art Project

We have been busy working all term on our contribution to the school art project - we started with draft pictures of 'Anything' pictures, then 'Present' pictures and finally 'Future' pictures. We then painted our 'Present' picture of us at school onto the wood panels that we spent an afternoon sanding, then oiling. We helped Whaea Alice with stripping the harakeke flax a few weeks ago, and she will be carefully hanging all of the panels with Steve in the next week so the Art can be unveiled on Thursday at a special dedication in the hall.

Welcome Cynric and Summer!

On our first day back of Term 3, we welcomed Cynric and Summer to Room 7!
We have started a small netball unit which is being coached by Amy from Canterbury Netball over the next 5 Monday's. Today we learnt how to land with 2 feet apart to give us more stability.
