Out and About Week 3: Portsmouth Street Kindy
This weeks out and about was a walk to the Portsmouth Street kindergarten.
We walked from school on a beautiful spring-like winters day and spent some time playing and connecting with some more new friends.
We met the kindergarten's pet mice, Bubble and Squeak, were monkey's on their playground and joined in celebrating Drake's 5th birthday. We hope to have a small group from Portsmouth Street kindergarten visit us soon and also come back to visit to keep the connection strong.

Sticker chart success!
In the past week, Jasmine, David and Tua have finished collecting stickers for their charts and have been able to choose some special prizes from Mrs Derricks prize box! Well done Jasmine, David and Tua for the amazing effort you have made in your learning and following our class routines!
Rapunzel Stories
We have been studying Fairytales in Writing.
We imagined that we were Rapunzel who was trapped in a tower and thought about what we would do. Then we made ourselves Rapunzel or a Prince as our Friday artwork to display on our wall. Don't they look amazing?

Visit from the Aranui Early Learning Centre
We had some special visitors visit Room 7
on Thursday from the Aranui Early Learning Centre, which is right across
the road from our school.
Room 8 children also came along and all the school students showed the
kindy kids some of the learning activities we get up to at our school.
We did rainbow writing, made letters and names with play dough, puzzles, interactive tv and iPads.
We look forward to going back and visit our new friends from kindy in a few weeks.

KidsCan Mufti Day
Today our school took part in the KidsCan National Mufti day. We are a KidsCan school, so it was great to be able to give back to them.

Pikelets!
This morning we made pikelets.
We mixed egg, sugar, flour, baking powder, salt and milk together then Mrs Derrick cooked our little pikelets in the electric frypan.
Julie put margarine and strawberry jam on them and we enjoyed eating them in the winter sun outside our classroom. They tasted delicious!

Making Riceballs
The junior school had a shared lunch for our Programme Of Guided Inquiry Provaction on Friday.
Each class made decorations that are represented cultures from our school and we ate food from different cultures.
Room 7 made Rice Balls from Japan. Here are some pictures and sentences that Room 7 students made about each picture.
